My name is Herman Molendijk and I have been a driver at Versteijnen since 1978. In driver’s school, this was my first internship, as a co-driver I grew to become a driver here and I’ve been here ever since.
As a driver, I like the freedom – being away, being able to fill my days myself. Sometimes you drive along great tourist routes and get to tour places that other people have to save up for. Where you drive often depends on your customers. For example, I delivered garage doors for about 18 years. This meant that I often drove through skiing regions.
These days, I’m more often to be found shunting on the Versteijnen site, but I still jump in when needed. For example, I recently drove to Italy to cover for a colleague.
When I started here, they still had a small warehouse. It’s a different era now, of course, some 40 years later. But there is a large group of colleagues who have been working here for years and, in any case, you are never forgotten by Versteijnen, which is nice.
